Ireland

Ireland follows a decentralised oversight model: instead of a single authority, 15 competent authorities have been designated, each responsible for its sector.

  • coordinated by a National AI Office, operational since September 2025
  • the single point of contact and cross-sector coordination run through this office

The decentralised model leverages existing sector regulators; for companies this means that different authorities may be competent depending on the area of application.

BAUER GROUP Relevance

When placing products on the Irish market, the competent authority depends on the application; the National AI Office serves as the central point of contact.
