Transparency for Deployers – Art. 13

Requirement

High-risk AI systems must be designed in such a way that their operation is sufficiently transparent for deployers. Providers must supply instructions for use.

Instructions for Use Must Include

  • Name and contact details of the provider
  • Performance characteristics, capabilities and limitations of the system
  • Intended purpose
  • Measures for human oversight and their implementation
  • Expected lifetime and maintenance measures
  • Technical specifications of the input data
  • Explainability of the output where relevant
  • Any known risks to health, safety, fundamental rights
  • Information on accuracy (Art. 15) including metrics

Instructions for use are drawn up as a section of the existing product documentation. For B2B customers as a technical data sheet, supplemented with AI Act-specific sections (limitations, known risks, oversight recommendations).
